Our school district would like to welcome Ms. Stephanie Ambrose to our School #1 RtI staff. Stephanie will be teaching in the Response to Intervention program and she is certified as a Reading Specialist.
After graduating from Montclair State University as a member of the National Educational Honor Society with a B.A. in Family and Child Studies and her Elementary Education Teaching Certificate, Ms. Ambrose was employed as a high qualified, third grade core content and integrated ESL teacher in Hudson County from 2008-2014. During her career there, Ms. Ambrose was selected as a Teacher of the Year. In addition, she was an Apple Vanguard district technology leader, district leader for the Teacher Evaluation Framework, district representative for the Hudson County Curriculum Consortium, PreK-3 Safety Committee Teacher Representative, and demonstration teacher for literacy and mathematics. Ms. Ambrose was also filmed for an episode of the NJEA Classroom Close-Up.
In 2014, Ms. Ambrose graduated with a M.A. in Reading and her NCATE Approved PreK-12 Reading Specialist Certificate. She relocated back home to Ocean County and received a Basic Skills Reading Specialist position in Monmouth County. While working there, Ms. Ambrose served on the Strategic Planning State of the Schools Committee & Community Engagement and Outreach Action Plan Committee, assisted in redesigning the Gifted & Talented criteria and curriculum, participated on the Google-Technology Committee, acted as a PARCC Technology School Coordinator, and hosted school-wide Family Literacy Nights.
During her free time, Ms. Ambrose loves exploring new places and taking road trips, being outdoors and hiking, spending time with her family and friends, reading (of course!), and cooking new, healthy recipes.
Ms. Ambrose is both grateful and esteemed for the opportunity to begin her position as the School #1 RtI Reading Specialist. The Southampton School District is excited to be adding an educator of Ms. Ambrose's caliber to our teaching staff!
Mrs. Colleen Bozarth - Special Education
Mrs. Colleen Bozarth is looking forward to joining the amazing team at School #1 this year. Ever since she can remember she has loved school and always wanted to be a teacher when she grew up. Her family has always encouraged this desire and recently her grandmother commented that she believes Colleen was born to be teacher.
After teaching various grade levels for almost a decade, and then taking time off to be home with her children, she is thrilled to be returning to her passion. She completed her undergraduate work at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA graduating magna cum laude. She went on to earn her Master's Degree from Philadelphia Biblical University (now called Cairn University) in Educational Leadership with a 3.87 GPA.
Mrs. Bozarth is a resident and active member of the Southampton community. She has been involved with the STRA as an assistant coach in softball and cheer leading. She is also helping lead the girl scout troop this year as well. Mrs. Bozarth and her family attend Easton Bible Church, where they are involved with various activities. She enjoys reading, exercising, going to the beach, shopping and just spending "girly time" with her daughters, ages 8 and 17. Her husband of 17 years grew up in Southampton and attended the school, so their roots are deep here.
Ms. Michelle Jacoby - Kindergarten Teacher
Our school district is pleased and excited to add Ms. Michelle Jacoby as a kindergarten teacher in School #1! Ms. Jacoby graduated in May 2016 from Rowan University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies: Math/ Science. She graduated with Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.6 and was an active member of the Rowan University Elementary Education Club. Within her education program at Rowan University, Michelle also completed a middle school mathematics endorsement to teach mathematics Grades 5-8.
Ms. Jacoby grew up and currently resides in Hamilton Township in Mercer County. She graduated from Steinert High School and during her high school education worked as an after school counselor at Alexander Elementary School in Hamilton. Based on this experience Michelle knew she wanted to go to college for Elementary Education because as she stated "I love working with children and watching them learn and grow". During college Ms. Jacoby worked as a Preschool teacher for the Hamilton Area YMCA. This experience made her realize how much she loved working with younger children to help them prepare for Kindergarten and beyond.
This past spring, Michelle completed her student teaching experience at Southampton Township School #1 in Mrs. Tosti’s Kindergarten class. Michelle recently said "I could not be more excited to be welcomed back to School #1 where I student taught just a few months ago and this time have my very own Kindergarten classroom! Throughout my time as a student teacher in this district, I was able to see first hand that this district cares deeply about every student’s education and sets high expectations for students to grow academically. I am so thrilled that I will be starting my teaching career in a district as excellent as Southampton and I am so eager for the 2016-2017 school year to start!"
In her spare time Michelle enjoys going to the beach, exercising, spending time with her family and friends, and watching the Yankees and Eagles!
Ms. Brittney Karpovich - Fourth Grade Teacher
School #2 is excited about the addition of Ms. Brittney Karpovich to the fourth grade teaching staff. She exudes energy, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching!
Brittney is a 2016 graduate from The College of New Jersey where she earned her Master's Degree in Teaching in both Special and Elementary Education. She graduated with a 3.9 GPA. While working towards her Master's she had experiences teaching in both the Evesham Township and Cinnaminson School Districts.
Brittney grew up in Marlton and attended school in the Evesham Township School District and then went on to attend Cherokee High School. After high school, she earned her B.A. in Public Relations from Rowan University, where she was able to work on her communication skills through internships with The Philadelphia Flyers and Comcast Sportsnet.
Brittney is "excited to be a part of the Southampton School District family," where she hopes to share a love of learning and discovery with all of her students.
Ms. Kayla Kasinski - Preschool Disabled Teacher
Our School #1 Family is pleased to welcome Ms. Kayla Kasinski as our new teacher of the Preschool Disabled program. She is a very energetic and enthusiastic teacher.
Ms. Kasinski is a 2015 graduate from West Chester University where she earned bachelors degrees in Early Childhood Education and Special Education with a minor is Reading. She graduated summa cum laude with a GPA of 3.86. At her time at West Chester, she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority where she worked to raise awareness for Autism Speaks as well as being a peer mentor for special education students.
Kayla grew up and resides in Marlton, where she attended Cherokee High School and was involved in after school clubs geared towards education, particularly in special education. She previously worked in Berlin Township for the last 6 months as a preschool educational assistant. She is very excited to be a part of the welcoming Southampton family and cannot wait for the 2016-2017 year to start!
In her spare time, Kayla greatly enjoys going to Ocean City, NJ, traveling, exercising, and spending time with her friends and family!
Ms. Christine King - School #3 Special Education
School #3 welcomes, Ms. Christine King to our ranks as a special education teacher. Ms. Christine King is a graduate of Rowan University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education with a concentration in writing and communications.
Prior to joining the Southampton team, she began her career working at the Warren E. Sooy Jr. Elementary School in Hammonton. She worked as an instructional aide in a multiply disabled classroom, inclusion, and pull-out resource setting and also completed a long term substitute position in second grade. Ms. King continued her career at Hammonton Middle School where she was an instructional aide within an inclusion, pull-out resource, and behavioral self-contained classroom setting. Ms. King completed a long term substitute position as a sixth and eighth grade English language arts special education teacher.
Ms. King volunteered as an assistant coach for the Hammonton High School girls bowling team and assisted with various school activities both during school hours and after. Ms. King believes that going above and beyond the duties you are assigned is what truly makes you an astounding teacher and leader. “I am extremely excited to begin this next chapter of my life with Southampton School District and be a member of such a wonderful community. I am looking forward to making a change in lives of many students and being not only their teacher, but their mentor as well.”
Outside of the classroom, Ms. King enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, and friends traveling to new places. She is an avid bowler, enjoys fishing, camping, cooking, playing softball, gardening, and going to the beach. Ms. King is a diehard fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Flyers.
Mr. Anthony Malave - Kindergarten Assistant
Southampton School #1 is excited to welcome Anthony Malave as a kindergarten assistant for the 2016-2017 school year. Mr. Malave has earned an Associate's degree from Rowan University of Burlington County College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in education.
Mr. Malave stated "I am excited to start working for the Southampton School District . I look forward to working with the staff and the children and hope to inspire new goals and learning for the upcoming year. On a personal note, I am a dad of several children myself. In fact, I have 8 children and a new addition premiering in January 2017. So that’s 9 kids total of my own, and I am familiar with all kinds of fun and chaos. In my spare time, I am a storm chaser, and a photographer of both family portraits and landscape photography. I have been involved in several photography shows and love spending time hiking, visiting museums, and relaxing with my family."
Ms. Gabrielle Marion - First Grade Teacher
Ms. Gabrielle Marion will begin her first full year as a first grade teacher in School #1. Last year, she joined the ranks of School #1 teachers as the interim teacher for Mrs. Emily Grosser who took a maternity and childcare leave of absence.
Gabrielle is a former Southampton Schools student. Here is a fun fact! She was a kindergarten student when current Superintendent of Schools, Michael Harris was the School #1 Principal. Ms. Marion is thrilled and excited to be teaching in the school where she began her own public school education.
Ms. Marion was born and raised in Vincentown and recently moved to Tabernacle. Gabrielle attended Rider University where she studied Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and Psychology. Just before graduating in 2013, she traveled abroad and taught in Madrid and Barcelona Spain!
Prior to coming to Southampton, Ms. Marion taught Kindergarten, Self-Contained Preschool, as well as First grade in North Jersey where she earned tenure. She sacrificed a tenured position for the opportunity to teach in Southampton.
Gabrielle stated "Some things I love are my two dogs named Akai and Raven, the beach (especially palm trees), sports, and spending time with my family."
Mrs. Jeneane Morris - Grade 6 Mathematics
Our school district is pleased that Mrs. Jeneane Morris will begin her first full year with us. She joined us this past April when Ms. Kate Eckert resigned to accept a position in Washington State.
Prior to coming to Southampton, Mrs. Morris taught both sixth and seventh grade math to students with special needs in Runnemede. In addition, Jeneane served as a special educator in a self-contained classroom as well as in-class support. She began her career in education as an instructional assistant.
Mrs. Morris earned her bachelor’s degree from Wesley College in 2008 and a master’s degree from Georgian Court University in 2016. She has a passion for learning and teaching and she has stated "I plan on continuing my education at Georgian Court University in the spring."
In free time, Mrs. Morris enjoys relaxing at the beach or pool and spending time with her husband, family and friends. Mrs. Morris recently got married.
Jeneane remarked "I am extremely excited that I have found a home in the Southampton School District and can be a part of such an amazing district and community!"
Mrs. Tara Porreca - Eighth Grade Mathematics
School #3 would like to welcome Mrs. Tara Porreca to our middle school mathematics staff. Mrs. Porreca will be teaching eighth grade mathematics until January of 2017 when Mrs. Jennifer Glodek will return from her childcare leave.
Mrs. Porreca is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. She had a career in finance managing 401(K) plans, prior to taking time off to be a stay at home mother.
During her leave of absence from the finance world, Tara began to substitute teach and realized that she has a passion for teaching and working with students especially in the middle school.
Based on her passion for teaching, Mrs. Porreca enrolled at Rowan University and earned teaching certificates in grades K-6 as well as middle school math and middle school science.
During the 2015-2016 school year, Tara taught in both Moorestown and the Riverside Public School Districts as an interim mathematics teacher when teachers were on leave.
Mrs. Porreca stated "I am very excited to join the Southampton School District family and to have a chance to combine my love of teaching with my love of math."
Mrs. Porreca has resided in Delran with her husband and three children. She enjoys being involved in her community and recently completed a term as president of the Delran Elementary PTA
In her free time, Tara enjoys reading, going to the pool with her family, traveling, and photography.
Ms. Rebecca Mannion - Language Arts/ Literacy
Ms. Rebecca Mannion is joining our School #3 teaching staff as the interim teacher from Mrs. Lauren Cogan during her childcare leave.
Rebecca Mannion attended Ursinus College where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Communications. Upon graduation, Rebecca returned to Rutgers University to attend the Teaching Preparation Program and she graduated with a Secondary Elementary Education certificate. As a student of the program, Rebecca earned academic honors and she inducted into The International Education Honors Society.
Rebecca has taught Language Arts at the Middle School level in two separate townships and she is excited to share the knowledge and skills she acquired with the students in the Southampton School District.
Mrs. Denise Sunbury - K-2 Technology / K-5 STEP
Mrs. Sunbury is joining us this year in an exciting role: teaching K-2 Technology, K-5 STEP, and 8th grade enrichment.
Mrs. Sunbury has several years of classroom experience in 1st grade, 2nd grade, and middle school science/STEM. She began her teaching career in Pennsville and then resigned to stay at home with her growing family. She returned to the classroom teaching 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science at the Friends Academy of Westampton.
While there she implemented a STEM curriculum to enhance the students’ learning. She is looking forward to teaching in Southampton! Mrs. Sunbury says, “I am very happy to be in Southampton! I can’t wait to get started and have the students excited about technology and STEM!”
Mrs. Sunbury earned a Bachelors of Arts in elementary education with a minor in specific learning disabilities and concentrations in middle school math and science from Bethany College, Bethany, WV. A few years later she completed her Masters of Education in mathematics education from Widener University, Chester, PA.
At home, Mrs. Sunbury is mom to four amazing children. The three oldest attend Seneca High School and the youngest is in 7th grade. She has been married for 19 years and lived in Tabernacle for 9 years. Mrs. Sunbury belongs to a local church and supports her sons in Boy Scouts. She is also often seen cheering on the Seneca Marching Band, the Iron Devils Robotics team, and the Seneca Track team. In the rare moments of free time, Mrs. Sunbury enjoys reading, gardening, sewing, and hiking with her family.
Mrs. Ashley Wisniewski - Special Education
School #1 welcomes Mrs. Ashley Wisniewski to our staff for the 2016-2017 school year. Mrs. Wisniewski will be teaching the LD-1 self-contained class.
Mrs. Wisniewski remarked, "I’ve always wanted to be a teacher when I was growing up! I think since my mom was in a school system it made me want to be a teacher even more".
Ashley earned her Bachelor’s degree from Georgian Court University in elementary education and teacher of students with disabilities in 2013. After graduating she has taught as an interim teacher in Mt. Laurel, Maple Shade, and Cherry Hill school districts. She stated "I loved every minute of it. It truly brightens my day when a student understands what’s being taught!"
Ashley Wisnewski recently married her best friend Mr. Wisniewski, who works for New Jersey American Water, and they traveled to St. Lucia for their honeymoon. When she's not in the classroom Mrs. Wisniewski loves going to the beach, spending time with her friends, family and husband, and playing softball.
Ashley is excited to begin her teaching career in Southampton as evidenced by her comment, "I truly can’t wait to start teaching in the Southampton School District!"
