The first level of data collected in the RTI process comes from universal school-wide screenings. The Southampton Township School District is using AIMS Web as the universal screening in the areas of language arts / literacy. AIMS web is administered to all students in grades K-6. AIMS web is practical and efficient to administer, with the goal of identifying students who may require further assessments and interventions.
Our district administers AIMS Web three times per year (fall, winter, and spring), and the data from these assessments help to guide instruction through the three tiers of the RTI process. This is important not only for identifying students who are having difficulties, but also for identifying possible areas of improvement in the general classroom instruction in the cases where too many students fall below expectations.
