STUDENT PICK-UP SAFETY INFORMATION
September 1, 2015
Greetings Parents:
The dismissal of school is always a complex task with close to 725 students exiting the building. The vast majority of our students are transported via busing. However, there are a significant number of students who are picked up by parents at the end of the school day.
The safety and security of our students is one of our top priorities. Therefore, we want to remind all parents who choose to pick-up their children at dismissal of the proper procedure for doing so.
First, please be reminded that when exiting the School #1 /#2 parking lot, you must turn left onto Pleasant Street, because Church Street is a one-way street.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation pertaining to the following student pick-up procedures.
The following is the proper procedure for student pick-up and is presented by school :
School #1:
· If your child(ren) is assigned to a bus but you decide that you will pick them up everyday for the entire school year, or pick them up on a designated day(s) for the entire school year, you must notify the school of your intention in writing, and your child(ren) will be dismissed as a walker.
o You must park in a designated parking space in the School #1/#2 parking lot adjacent to Miss Mabel Drive.
o All walkers will be released from the school at the rear Canopy Entrance after an assigned staff member has verified that the parent is present.
· If your child normally rides the bus but you decide to pick them up, you must notify the School #1 office no later than 2:15 p.m. prior to dismissal.
o If you know in advance that you plan on picking your child(ren) up please send in a note and this will ensure that the pick-up is included on the daily attendance sheet, which is sent out mid-morning.
o You must park in a designated parking space in the School #1/#2 parking lot adjacent to Miss Mabel Drive.
o You must report to the School #1 Office vestibule to sign-out your child(ren)
o Parents will pick-up their child(ren) at the Main Office vestibule.
School #2 / #3:
· If your child(ren) is assigned to a bus, but you decide that you will pick them up everyday for the entire school year, or on a designated day(s) for the entire school year, you must notify the school of your intention in writing and your child(ren) will be dismissed as a walker.
· If you know in advance that you plan on picking your child(ren) up, you may send in a note that morning and your child(ren) will be dismissed as a walker.
