Get out your walking shoes, because the school district is reinstituting "Walking Wednesdays" every Wednesday beginning September 24th through Wednesday, October 29th. The purpose this event is to encourage more students to walk to school and promotes physical fitness.This activity is part of the school district's initiative pertaining to "Safe Routes To Schools" a national organization dedicated to promoting physical fitness via walking and riding bikes to school.
Parents may drop their children off at the Southampton Emergency Medical Transport station located on Race Street from 8:00 A.M. until 8:10 A.M. on Wednesday mornings. The students are supervised by Southampton Schools staff and parent volunteers. The students are able to socialize with other students and then around 8:20 A.M. walk from Race Street, up to Grange Street, crossover Pleasant Street and proceed to the school campus.
