This winter’s sport season was a huge success! The girls’ basketball team made it to the championship but sadly lost to Indian Mills. The 8th graders on the team included, Jenna Birnbohm– Kaminski, Kaitlyn Birnbohm– Kaminski, Casee Bryan, Sarah Moschini, Rachel Roseboro, and Devan Walker. All 8th graders were excellent players and contributed a lot to the team. The 7th grade girls played very strong to make this a successful season. The 7th grade girls included, Tori Bowman, Jade Durboraw, Monica Ginyard, Brooke Isaksen, Jessica Rankel, and Lauren Teisen. In the end, the girls had a total of 11 wins and 2 loses. The coach’s awards went to Jenna and Kaitlyn Birnbohm. The assistant coach’s award went to Sarah Moschini. The MVP went to Rachel Roseboro, and the most improved player went to Casee Bryan. This season the girls played with great passion and never gave up in any situation.
The boys’ basketball team 8th graders included, Michael Ginyard, Luke Hoey, Nick Decker, and Sean Barnard. Seventh graders included, Ryan Graham, Matt Christopher, and Carl Gibbs. Sixth graders included, Nick Tilden, Nathan Roseboro, Joshua Willitts, and Austin Enderbrock. The boys had a winning record with 9 wins and only 4 losses. The boys’ team also made it to the playoffs. The awards went to Michael Ginyard for Defensive MVP, the 3 Point Specialist was Luke Hoey, and Nick Decker was the Rebound King. In the end, the boys came in 4th place in their division. Great job, boys!
This season the cheerleaders also did an amazing job. Mr. Park stated that, “They brought extra life to the games.” They cheered at a total of 10 games and won their competition for the second year in a row. The most valuable cheerleader was Mackenzie DiBella, and the coach’s awards went to Brenna Palmer and Gabby Roberts. Way to go, girls!
In conclusion, the 2014 winter sport season was a huge success! Everyone played their best! Congratulations to all three teams!
