On Friday April 24th, Southampton Township School #2 fourth grade students hosted their community pen pals for the annual Fourth Grade Pen Pal Brunch. There were over one hundred and fifty people in attendance including the students and approximately 75 pen pals and/or seniors who are interested in the program.
Every year, fourth grade students are paired up with a senior citizen within the Southampton Township community. Throughout the school year, the students and seniors write letters to one another in a traditional pen pal program. The students and seniors finally meet face to face in late spring at the annual Pen Pal Brunch. The program has been in existence for over 25 years.
This year, in addition to the pen-pals meeting, the students and seniors planted basil seeds in honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day. A great time was had by all!
