Mrs. Barbara Godfrey joined the Southampton Township School District in 1996 as Business Administrator. Previously she served the Medford Lakes and Mount Ephraim school districts in the same capacity. Her commitment to excellence in school management has led her to serve as a Trustee to New Jersey Association of School Business Officials, President of the Burlington County chapter, Trustee and Past-President of the Burlington County Joint Insurance Fund. In 2010 she was elected by her peers for the Distinguished Service Award.
Mrs. Godfrey graduated from Lycoming College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, later earning a Master of Business Administration degree from Monmouth College. She has earned the national certification of Registered School Business Administrator.
Her duties and responsibilities include, financial and budgetary matters, transportation, operations and maintenance, food services, and risk management. Mrs. Godfrey strives to serve the whole school community to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment in which children can learn, the staff can serve, and the community may enjoy.
She compares her role of Business Administrator to that of a Broadway musical producer; the stage is set, the actors are in place, the theater sparkles, the audience arrives safely and have been escorted to their seats, the orchestra is waiting for the first stroke of the conductor’s baton. As the curtains open, there is no need to think of what went on behind the scene, simply relax and enjoy every moment of the experience.
Mrs. Godfrey and her husband of 40+ years have strong roots in Southampton, having resided here for 38 years. They are honored that their three adult children attended Southampton Township Schools and Lenape High School.
