Ms. Jennifer Andrews is the Director of Special Services. She also serves the Child Study Team as the School Social Worker. As Director of Special Services, Ms. Andrews is responsible for all special education programming, guidance programming, English as a Second Language Services, 504, nursing, supervision of the Child Study Team and special education teaching staff. Ms. Andrews services as the McKinney Vento Liaison to the Southampton Community.
Ms. Andrews has 15 plus years experience as a social worker. She began her Social Work career in 2001 as at the Head Start. After obtaining a few years of experience and an additional degree she began her career as a School Social Worker in the Lakewood School District, serving in this capacity from 2005-2012. From 2012-2013, Ms. Andrews served as a School Social Worker at Shawnee High School in the Lenape Regional High School District.
Ms. Andrews states "My previous position as Child Study Team School Social Worker has allowed me to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students and parents. I enjoy the challenges and rewards of education and opportunity to program successfully for all students’ individual needs as well as assist staff in implementing programs. I have learned that successful leadership is the ability to implement the knowledge and understanding of special education and services for students by effectively collaborating with colleagues and various services providers to ensure all students equal access to their individual educational needs."
In 1998, Jennifer obtained an Associates of Social Science degree from Ocean County College. Shortly after, she enrolled at Georgian Court University, where she continued to pursue her degree in Social Work. During her undergraduate level studies she had the opportunity to attend Bristol University in England where she studied Social Welfare Policy. In addition, she cultivated the key components of clinical social work necessary to practice under the New Jersey Social Work guidelines. In 2001, she graduated with honors and a Bachelors of Science degree in Social Work. Ms. Andrews completed her Masters of Social Work degree at Fordham University graduating with honors in 2005 and obtained her New Jersey Department of Education certification as a School Social Worker. Her graduate program included focusing on a Client Centered Management Track (clinical & administrative). During her graduate studies Ms. Andrews developed and facilitated the first HIV/AIDS (Women’s support group) program in Ocean County for Women through the Health Department. This initiative included implementation of the program, strategic planning, educating the public, and grant writing.
In 2012, Ms. Andrews enrolled into the Educational Leadership Program at Delaware Valley College. She graduated with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and obtained a New Jersey Department of Education certification as a school principal.
