The Southampton Township School District is pleased to offer a daily half day preschool program for eligible children ages three to five at School #1, designed to provide our children with disabilities the opportunity to be educated in a caring and supportive environment.
A child study team case manager is assigned to monitor each child's individual needs. This person also works with families as a liaison between the home and school.
Our teachers, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist and Instructional Assistants work collaboratively in the classroom on your child's behalf. The educational program and related services of speech, occupational, and physical therapy are integrated into the program, as well as individually provided to meet the individual needs of your child. Each preschool child with a disability has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) describing their special education and related services.
As you consider our program, please do not hesitate to contact the preschool case manager, Mrs. Tirone or the Office of Special Services at (609) 859-2256, extension 136, with any questions you may have.
In order to better assist you, the following resources are provided for parents and staff who may need additional information. As always, please do not hesitate to speak with your child's case manager regarding any questions or concerns you may have.
The Preschool Program operates two half-day sessions that are two hours and thirty minutes in length during the academic year, following the school calendar approved by the Southampton Township Board of Education. For this upcoming school year, the program's schedule is listed below:
Morning Session 8:45 a.m to 11:15 a.m.
Afternoon Session 12:15 p.m. to 2:45p.m.
Related services are incorporated and integrated into the daily program while your child is in school. These services which include Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy, are provided according to each child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
The Preschool Calendar also features special times and dates that offer opportunities for preschoolers and their parents to meet with the teachers and instructional staff, participate in workshops, discuss student progress and participate in special programming, as well as other school-wide activities.
